Need some quick and easy dog Halloween costume ideas, we got you covered! Here are 10 DIY costumes that won’t break the bank. This way they can look just as stylish when they go trick or treating with you! Most of these costumes use items you can find around the house, but some may require you to take a quick trip to the craft store, or just a dollar store.

1. Gangster Dog

This is one of the really easy DIY dog Halloween costume ideas and it’s so cute and funny. This will make your furry friend look like the coolest pooch on the block.

Materials Needed:

  • Hat or bandanna (hat recommended for floppy eared dogs and the bandanna for spiky eared dogs)
  • Small t-shirt or hoodie
  • Chains
  • Sunglasses

Once you have all these materials it’s pretty self-explanatory from there. The reason I have a hat for floppy eared dogs and bandanna for spiky eared dogs is because if you put a hat on your spiky eared dog, it will most likely bother them, and they will keep taking it off. And if you put a bandanna on the floppy eared dog it will have to tie over the ears and that will irritate them.

If you have a small doggie and the shirt is too big you can buy a cheap one from the store, then crop it, so it doesn’t drag. Then you can finish it off with 1 to 3 chains around their neck. Make sure they are loose enough. Your pooch should now officially look like a gangster dog.

2. Jet Pack Dog

This one costume is really unique and will look great on your doggie. This DIY dog craft makes it look like your dog has a jet pack on their back!

Materials Needed:

  • 2 empty 2-liter soda bottles
  • Silver spray paint
  • Silver duct tape
  • yellow and orange tissue paper
  • 1 sheet of paper
  • Clear tape

Now that you hopefully have all your materials you can get started. Get your 2 empty soda bottles and spray paint them each silver. Then go ahead and let them dry. Once they are done drying you can use the silver duct tape to tape the two bottles together.

Then get out your tissue paper. Where the lid would be stick the tissue paper out of that hole to make it look like flames. You can use the duct tape to make it stay. Print out a couple of patches or a NASA logo and tape them on to make it look official. Now your done. All you have to do is attach your dog’s new jet pack to their harness.

3. TY Beanie Dog

This is such a cute costume inspired by the classic TY beanie dogs. Your canine friend will be a real-life stuffed animal.

Materials Needed:

  • Red and White Construction Paper
  • String or Yarn
  • Scissors
  • Tape

Use your scissors to cut a big heart out of your red construction paper. Next cut a “t” and “y” out of the white paper to paste on your heart with glue. Now that you have your life size TY beanie tag you can tie it on their collar with either yarn or string. The finished product will look so cute.

4. Sushi Dog

This dog costume is a super easy one and so funny. It makes your doggie look like they are a piece of sushi. The materials are easy to find around the house too!

Materials Needed:

  • Textured white fabric
  • Dark red pillowcase
  • Thick black ribbon

This is probably the most simple costume to set up. What you’ll do is put your dark red pillowcase on a pillow and place it on top of the textured white fabric, which you place on top of your dog’s back. Now wrap the two together, around your pooch with the thick black ribbon.

5. Ghost Dog

This outfit represents the original ghost Halloween costume. It will look super cute and it’s so easy to make.

Materials needed:

  • White sheet
  • Scissors

Cut a big enough hole where your dog’s nose will go through. Then two eye holes right above that. Then just put it on!

6. Baby Deer:

This one is so simple and one of the cutest ones in my opinion. Yet it only really works on short haired brown doggies.

Materials Needed:

  • White dog paint (very important that it’s pet-safe paint)
  • Paintbrush (optional)

Take the white dog paint and using the paintbrush or just your fingers, put rows of dots. Make it look like a fawn. Now your doggie will look like an adorable little deer.

7. Spider Dog

This costume is perfect for Halloween. This is also perfect for dogs who don’t like wearing costumes. It doesn’t get in their way as much.

Materials Needed:

  • 6 Pipe cleaners (size – based on your dog’s size, color – your dog’s main fur color)

You may have to go run to the dollar store or craft store to get some pipe cleaners. Yet now that you have them all you have to do it tie them each to your doggie’s harness. Spread them each out a little to make them look like legs.

8. Ballerina Dog

This is a good one for your girl dogs! They will look so pretty in this costume.

Materials Needed:

  • Tutu (color of your choice, preferably pink)
  • Matching color bow

This involved no crafting, just go ahead and put it on them when Halloween comes around. They can dance around the streets looking like a pretty pink ballerina.

9. Flower dog

This one is something funny and different. It makes your dog’s head look like a big flower. You will need to have simple sewing skills, or at least know how to use a hot glue gun.

Materials Needed:

  • Sewing kit or Hot glue gun
  • Fabric or cardboard
  • Fabric Elastic or old collar

Now what to do? Take your fabric or cardboard (it would be way better to use fabric though) and cut out pedals that will size up with your dog’s face. Next choose whether you’re going to use fabric elastic or just one of your doggie’s old collars for the foundation. Now that you have decided your either are going to sew or glue the pedals onto the elastic fabric or collar. Now your dog’s a newly bloomed flower.

10. Martini Dog

This is another funny costume for your dog to show off during trick or treating. Although your pooch may not like part of the costume!

Materials Needed!

  • Dog cone
  • 3 Foam balls
  • Red foam or paint
  • Wooden Dowel
  • Green paint

First paint the 3 foam balls with your green paint. Once that’s dry you can either glue a small red foam circle of each one or you can paint a red circle. Next you poke each ball in the dowel. Then tape your stick on the side of your dog’s cone. Then when it comes the day of Halloween you can put it on them.

In Closing:

Now you have 10 DIY Halloween dog costume ideas to make for your doggie on this fun holiday. Your dog will definitely be the best on the block. Have fun trick or treating. Hopefully you each earn lots of candy.
